この度HENKYOでは、7/12(土)よりの平山悠羽 (Yu Hirayama)、 高橋冴 (Sae Takahashi)、海老原イェニ (Yennie Ebihara )の3名によるグループ展「In between」を開催いたします。

参加作家たちは、偶然性や直感に頼るのではなく、事前の設計・観察・試作といったプロセスを重視し、対象との距離を測るようにして制作を進めています。彼らが扱うモチーフは、単なる「再現」を超え、時に具象の形を取りつつも、そこに潜む抽象的な構造や思考をあらわにします。

「手前」は視覚の入口であり、作家が構築した形象の世界です。一方、「奥」には、制作の痕跡や素材の重なり、作家の思考のレイヤーが息づいています。そして、「具象」と「抽象」は固定された対立ではなく、常に行き来する曖昧な境界として、作品内で呼応しあいます。

計画された物質の形に宿る、予期しない揺らぎや空白。構造と感情、再現と再構成。本展は、そうしたあわいに立ち上がる視覚の経験を通じて、作品と鑑賞者の関係をあらためて見つめ直す場となることを目指します。ぜひご高覧ください。 それぞれの作品は、見る人の視点によって異なる解釈を引き出し、具象と抽象の間に広がる曖昧な領域を探求します。写真が描き出すリアリティ や絵画が生み出す想像力、それらが交錯することで、「見る」という行為そのものに問いを投げかけます。

HENKYO is pleased to present a group exhibition by three up-and-coming artists. The exhibiting artists rely on a process of preliminary design, observation, and prototyping to measure the distance between themselves and their subjects, rather than on chance or intuition. The motifs they work with go beyond mere “reproduction,” sometimes taking the form of figurative objects, but also revealing the abstract structures and thoughts underlying within them.

The “surface” is the entrance to the visual world, the figurative world constructed by the artists. On the other hand, in the “depth,” traces of production, overlapping materials, and layers of the artist’s thoughts can be seen. “Concrete” and “abstract” are not fixed opposites, but rather ambiguous boundaries that constantly move back and forth, responding to each other within the work.

Unexpected fluctuations and voids exist within the planned material forms. Structure and emotion, reproduction and reconstruction. This exhibition aims to provide an opportunity to reconsider the relationship between the artwork and viewer through the visual experiences that arise in these ambiguous spaces.
